Odour (decreasing): Floral-violet, woody, sweet, fruity-raspberry, green.

Beta-ionone is a colourless to light yellow liquid with an odour of cedarwood. In very dilute alcoholic solution, the odour resembles odour of violets.

Uses: It finds its way more into fragrances rich in woody notes. It is also widely used in lipstick fragrances on account of its compatibility with fruity fragrance materials. This material can produce an effective illusion of the smell of raspberries. It has a role as an antioxidant and a fragrance.
